“Styrian Wolf is a dual-purpose hop developed and released by the Slovenian Institute of Hop Research and Brewing in _alec, Slovenia.
Styrian Wolf hops have exceptionally high alpha acids and give complex, intense aromas including mango, passionfruit, lemongrass and strawberry as well as sometimes spicy and herbal flavours. It is excellent at disease resistance, with a high tolerance to both downy and powdery mildew and has a high resistance to verticillium wilt.
When using this hop in brewing, look forward to very intense fruity and floral notes. These flavours can even include sweet tropical fruits and complex aromas of elderflower and even a hint of violet or black liquorice. It really is a very complex hop strain and US craft brewers love to use it to create unique IPAs and pale ales. Firestone Walker Brewing Co. just featured Styrian Wolf in the famous PROPAGATOR SERIES.
Commercially, the variety is being experimented with a growing number of breweries around the world and is the sole hop in Italian Crak Brewery’s Styrian Wolf Session IPA.”
